The drum stick is stratified because of rimshots!

  • a_sharapko

no way =) buy new sticks! And so to fill the skill of sound production with minimal losses, any attachment will damage the drum rim ... for me sticks are cheaper

  • drummies

    Wooden rims only if

  • kreker

and how are they friends with rimshots?

  • drummies

well, they tend to exfoliate as well as sticks

  • insider

The sticks will flake off from any rim shots. You just need to put up with this.

  • sega

    Tape nozzles, except)

  • kreker

And what do you think, if you make a nozzle from rubber / silicone on this place, it will save? Is there a material that can withstand?

  • Maxofff

no, it won’t save, your attachment won’t stand, and even if it does, the feeling from the game will not be the same

  • aroma

Slightly makes the sticks heavier, you can wind them evenly enough on both, is easy to replace, the color does not matter))) There is a longer and more correct way, to develop a technique in which the service life of the sticks will be longer, although a rim shot is a rim shot ...

  • 1sthast

before, as a short-term way out of this situation, they did this - periodically they cleaned up these burrs with sandpaper so that they were less exfoliated, but you yourself understand that the thickness of the stick also decreased. the only plus was that the burrs did not fly over the carpet. but the life of sticks cannot be increased by this method)

  • kreker

Tape is not an option at all, it is very sticky and pieces will fly off from it as well. Masking tape is better then)

well, this is already too much)) it seems to me that you can try with some material, there will not be such a rim shot, but for practicing norms

  • shalom

with all sorts of rubber bands, the sensations are always not the same)

  • scorp

For those who wrap sticks with electrical tape, a separate boiler is heated in hell)

  • aroma

I don’t know, I use duct tape all the time because I take Vick First Jojo Mayer or heavy jazz zildovye, they are expensive (for me), I love rim shots. As a rule, one winding is enough for a "session", and then I rewind, the glue naturally remains under the tape.

By the way, regarding sticks, how they split from rim shots also depends on the type of wood, so joe joe mayer split quite strongly, but heavy jazz just breaks)) but that's how it works for me.

  • alex_marchenko

Japanese oak sticks do not delaminate. But they are not for everybody. The recoil is stronger than nut, for example. Well, they are heavier. Although this is the only way I've been playing for many years. I like it very much. But I'm not fond of rimshots)))

  • kreker

    and what for sticks?

  • alex_marchenko

either TAMA Traditional Series Oak or Pro Mark Shira Kashi Oak

  • solidator

any sticks exfoliate and Okashi including

  • alex_marchenko

I put forward your hypothesis? I checked it on personal experience. Japanese oak crumbles, but does not delaminate in any way. Here the notorious nut flakes, which is what I don't like.

  • solidator

and I?). I just threw out a couple of 747x just the other day. So I would take a picture.

  • alex_marchenko

I threw out these pairs 100))) Not a single stick stratified. "Ate" exactly, as if a beaver had eaten. But there were walnut ones, so they exfoliated along the fiber and resembled a piece of wood, which was processed with a plane "against the grain".

  • solidator

Well, generally xs, honestly. I have that their walnut fiercely exfoliated, as from oak. And the last half of the year I have been taking it from oak. I killed par 6-7 just because of rim shots.

  • swerus

for exquisite - as an option, heat shrinkage))

  • lucky83

Dude, this is a consumable. Deal with it. The best way to keep your sticks intact is simply not to play them :)

  • pavel_drumsss

to solve the problem, try to take a rubber hose and cut it lengthwise, this cut can be put on the rim.

I did this to eliminate the trigger from the rim

  • kirill_an

The only thing that I read here is heat shrinkage, the only thing that will protect against debris, but again, the service life will not extend. Such hedgehogs often appear on cast rims, they live on stampings (personally) for six months.
