Louie Bellson died

Louie Bellson, born July 6, 1924 and given the birth name Luigi Paulino Alfredo Francesco Antonio Balassoni, died on Saturday February 14th, 2009 at the age of 84.

Bellson, the legendary Italian-American jazz drummer, was known as a composer, arranger, bandleader, and jazz educator, and was a pioneer of double bass drumming.

A world-famous musician who has performed at all the best concert venues in the world. Louis Bellson will be buried in his hometown of Moline, Illinois.
