Basic techniques for playing the drum kit are taught sequentially, from simple to complex.
Only after mastering simple notes (quarters and eighths) in the first part, it is recommended to touch on the simplest rhythmic patterns of the second part. Only after going through the triplets in the first part, it is advisable to start getting acquainted with the jazz third part. Each rhythmic pattern has practical value: elementary figures of accompaniment must be played with popular, rock, jazz music (to recordings and, if possible, in musical ensembles).
Practice shows that sketches must be learned by heart. Paired etudes can be played in a row (as one etude). It is better to play the exercises a multiple of 2 times (2, 4, 8...) and only when the material is well mastered can you play them in a row, developing the technique of reading notes “from sight”. There is no fingering on purpose (different teachers - different techniques).
The first part can be played with your hands (with sticks on the pad, snare drum, palms on the table, on your knees, etc.), with your feet (with your feet on the floor: toes, heels, the whole foot, or on a double pedal on the bass drum, pad, etc.).
The second part is devoted to rock music, since, according to the deep conviction of the author, it is impossible to introduce a musician to jazz without becoming familiar with rock! The third part is the basics of jazz. The last exercises and etudes are not easy, do not try to play them quickly.
