Hello everyone
Tell me, please, such a problem:
I bought a used Roland TD-3, everything is fine, but the rim on the small drum does not work.
The pad of the PDX 8 snare drum, there are two piezoelectric elements in it, one on the mesh, the second on the rim (rim). I rang all the piezas to the socket, together with the cable, without cable with adapters, etc. in all variations, everything is fine everywhere. But the sound of the rim stubbornly does not give out.
I plugged the cable from the small into the pad of the two-zone dish - it works perfectly both the small and the rim.
I.e. summing up:
- the cable works correctly (everything is fine with the plate pad)
- the Roland TD-3 unit itself works correctly (on the cymbal pad via a cable from a small one, the sound is clear and stable on both zones: both mesh and rim)
- so it's about the snare drum pad???
- the piezas work correctly (the ringer showed that there is a signal)
- cable socket in the pad (jack-mom): all contacts ring perfectly, soldering is good, all contacts work
- I found out that there are different piezo sensors in the snare drum pad, one specifically for the mesh, i.e. the standard piezo, and the second for the RIM, which is some other according to the characteristics, apparently designed for a different vibration or something like that, so as not to argue with the main piezo for the mesh..
In general.. everything is fine everywhere.. but there is no sound of the rim on the small pad STUBBORNLY ...
What else could there be? What did I miss? What to check? In the settings and instructions of the TD-3 unit itself, I also did not see any information about this.. Maybe there are some other settings in the block that I may have missed?
Is it possible that the edge sensor in the plate pad is different from the rim sensor in the small one? But after all, he worked well in Rome in a cable from a small one..
In general.. the head is already exploding.. What to do? Where to dig? Help me, kind people!)))
Thanks!

Ringing the sensor is not a rewarding thing, you need to measure the sensitivity, not the signal transmission.
Also check the settings of the small one, the rim shot may just be disabled, or its parameters are coarse.
