After playing zildjian avedis medium ride 20 after zildjian zbt ride 20, I was unpleasantly disappointed with the very dull sound of avedis .. As a result, I preferred a bright and sonorous btt at the concert;)
What disappointments have you experienced in the drumming industry?

amdm
after playing Sabian AAX X-plosion crashes, I realized that my ex Paiste Rude sounded like saucepans)
let the holivar begins)

There was exactly the same situation with the zils about 3 years ago. I was very upset then))) Then I just bought k custom ride and, as it were, all the rules)

Avedis is lying on the blanket !! And CBT on a solid table !! The stump will be clear and the calls will be

Avedis has the best Ping ride 21.

Each line with its own characteristic sound, what is there to be surprised at?

Basically different cymbals.
Type of coating, forging, alloy design of the plate itself.
The fact that zbt sounds brighter doesn't make it a mega-professional piece of hardware.
It still depends on the genre you work in.
Nobody will play jazz on the peist ore. Here's a similar topic. Avedis did not fit, so look for another top-end gland, only with a diamond coating, a large bell and appropriate forging.

The avedises have different thickness, while the ZBT, in fact, has one. So it is not correct to compare by the degree of voicedness which thread of ting from avedis and cbt.
Let's say sweet ride with a diamond treatment will be sonorous)
And, of course, avedises will not be so useful for mitol.

I did not register the zbt as a pro for hardware, I just wrote my evaluation opinion about two pieces of hardware from the same company, of different price categories. And I like it at that time lay better pta.
As for genres - everything from jazz to metal.
I wrote about a specific medium ride. I did not try to praise the PTA or drive it to avedis. I just said that I was a little disappointed in the sound.
Avedis is a good series, I have nothing against
drummies
I am now saddened by Sabian's approach to applying logos. Either Sabian is not applied evenly, then the abbreviation of the series is clumsily put down, and it happened that they were so disproportionately stuck to each other that it was simply not pleasant. I understand that there is a large volume of production, all the cases, but I have not noticed such a shnyagi either from the Zils, or from the Payisti or Meinl, or even from the Turks.

then you need more than one ride.) Nobody has released such universal ones yet.
Or like this:
For rock / metal - a powerful ride.
For jazz - medium-tin crash for 19 or 20. Hang the chain from the bath and the sound will generally be a jazz-bomb. (This is about traditional, old jazz.))

thanks! True, I will listen

You take this one, buy it and customize a 22 "ride and you get crazy because the CBT is not a plate at all.
Although the zbt ride for 20 is not very bad for its price.

my friend had a ride planet zed of the old series for a long time. all dirty, oxidized, heavy. sounded like a top heavy ride. he mixed it with aah until it was stolen.

Not so long ago, I got the whole set from sub A, I danced with Ride from hat. I bought oktagon 18 successfully, I was satisfied, then I took a sub AA medium crash and spat - a thick buzzing saucepan as thick as a well hatch, from which it is necessary to knock out the crash sound from behind. I knew, of course, that avedis and sub aa were a bit dubious - there were avedis medium and medium-thin crashes, there was aa medium thin 16, but I didn't expect such a thick pancake in medium crash.

I took myself a brand new a custom ride 22 ". A bomb cymbal. In my opinion, subjective, I didn't have anything better. I don't play jazz, but from funk and hip-hop to metal my dreams came true
a_sharapko
what if the medium crashes by 18? Will it go?
I'm just thinking of straightening with a minimal kit.
swerus
Yes. Must.
The parameters are rolling.
But it's not 100%.t.k. I only see the inscription: "18
medium". I don't have a piece of iron on my hands to answer you exactly. We need to listen, play a couple of concerts on it. In the end, it's up to you to decide whether the plate is suitable for your purposes or not.
Control the clarity of the ping using the length of the chain and the degree of tightening of the felt washer. (I use a chain from clothes)) More chain = more ping. She won't let the plate start.
Sticks are also important. Series AJ, if it's a wiki.
(I understand that this is obvious. I write more for the wall.)
Crash with a chain is an ideal option for playing J.standards (swing) in small and medium-sized jazz clubs.
A band with a sound machine will not give you a dark after a jam with the words: "oh, you bastard! I soaked everyone with my hardware!"
With brushes in general, it will sound super.
Most of the non-specialized Jazz rides will sound like shit with medium and soft hardness brushes, because try rocking some custom 22" with your brushes.)
Crash will be a different story. The sound will be full, juicy and most importantly there will be a high degree of dynamics control.
For the back, by the way, a buzz.)
Well, we must remember that a crash with a chain is not able to perform all the functions of a jazz ride. Because it's a damn crash)))
I have written a lot and so understandable, but this is for general information.
a_sharapko
infa just super!
Thanks a lot!

It happens that the cymbal does not roll in by the sound. I've also licked my lips for a long time on the custom dark, and when Maza appeared to play on them, I spat terribly and hung up my mains :)

about disappointment: I enjoyed playing the paiste signature precision ride 20 "until I accidentally compared it with the paiste alpha full ride 20" and it turned out that they sound one to one. while one is three times more expensive than the other.
