I want to read a comment about acrylic snare drums and huge air holes, is it just a show-off or sounds well in my case in sludge / dark hk

Acrylic sounds different from wood or metal. However, it seems to me that the average owner of acrylic drums buys them primarily because of the appearance, and not because of the need for some special sound :)

Airhole, like any acoustic bass reflex, is calculated with respect to the size, depth of the internal volume of the resonating body of the instrument, therefore, a larger number and larger sizes of airhole than it should be better on the sound of the body cannot affect the sound of the body ... therefore, I can assume that this is more show-off than the need to achieve the desired sound )))

I think deviations from the norms of calculations and generally accepted trends, and there is a search for a special (own) sound. but here all the methods are good.))

by show-off, I meant not only the appearance like a Swiss cheese, but also some kind of coordinate features of the sound!))
