Questions about Pearl 14x5 Beaded Phosphor Bronze SensiTone Premium Snare Drum

  • swerus

I had a phosphor bronze drumgear. (The same Taiwanese cadlo). Loud yes. Not as hard and spiked as steel. And the tone of the tub is not as high as brass.

If the tops of steel and brass are confused, then bronze just has more of a middle. I liked him very much for this reason. Not so rude.

But still with a decent volume margin.

It is not worth looking for wooden warmth and softness in a metal drum. "There is the best of both worlds in one drum" is to some extent self-deception. A tree is a tree - lower, warmer, thicker. Metal is metal - brighter, harder, louder.

thank you very much . It's not about finding a compromise between wood and metal. I really liked his timbre. But due to long-standing health problems, I have to select instruments with a very soft sound.

a lot of cheating tricks to get a soft sound from the drum.

    1. plastics are not so hard to pick up. To my taste, Evans sounds more matte and soft than remo. And just models with a smaller attack, too, because the choice is huge.

2.dampers, rings, moungels, plastics with perforations and rings.

    3.sticks. there are three points

    3.a material and weight.
Walnut and oak are harder, maple is softer and usually lighter. Less will rumble on the drum.

3.b shape of the tip. A small tip with a smaller contact area will give a sharp but less loud and sharp sound.

3.in the balance and shape of the wand. A stick with a weight closer to the shoulder (rebound) and with a strong thinning to the tip will again have less weight on impact and therefore less noise.

    .......

I'm all about the fact that the drums themselves are loud. And metal ones are even louder. But there are some tricks that will help to get a softer sound.

The choice of all kinds of accessories and sticks is huge. To find a balance and compromise of convenience and desired sound.

Copper drum + evans g1 + hazy 300 and low-fat snare i.e. a thin, fine turn, like a native pearl. + damper ring + vic american jazz sticks 90-100 grams of steam and it will be great

I tried a lot of things (earplugs, sticks, heads, dampers) until I got my hands on a Yamaha Absolute Hybrid Maple 14x6 drum. I can play it with any heads, any sticks and at any volume and I don't feel any discomfort. Thanks for the info.

The same bullshit with the plates. I had to listen to a lot to find what I can play.
