Arthur was born and grew up in the beautiful Baku, having absorbed the musical traditions of the peoples of Transcaucasia since childhood. The passion for drums came in school years not without the influence of his older brother, a bass guitarist, who brought records of foreign performers from touring trips. Arthur, according to him, was indelibly impressed by the recordings of the legendary band Irakere, albums by Chick Corea, Bob James and Dave Gruzin, as well as the works of the little-known Czechoslovak band Fermata. Great interest was aroused by the special drive inherent in Latin American music in general and its rhythm section in particular.
